Bridge NSW
Consultation on proposed Governance Arrangements,
Constitution and By-Laws of Bridge NSW now Finalised

Thank you to all Clubs and individuals who participated in the consultation process on the draft Constitution and By-Laws for Bridge NSW.

  • There was very strong support for the proposals for voting rights and representation on Council and those have been adopted without alteration.
  • The proposal to require clubs to separate affiliation and capitation fees from the remainder of member fees was opposed by the majority of clubs and has not been adopted (clause 13(3)). Nonetheless we encourage clubs to ensure transparency by informing members of the fees paid by the club to the ABF and Bridge NSW on their behalf.
  • A number of other detailed changes were made in response to the consultation.

The amended documents have been approved by the Bridge NSW Proxy Board and NSWBA Council. Copies of the final documents, along with mark-up versions showing the changes, are below.

Next steps

The next phase in the separation process is the approval by the ABF of Bridge NSW Limited as the constituent association of the ABF for New South Wales. This approval is expected to take place at the ABF AGM on 24 May. We expect that separation will occur soon thereafter, pending the completion of several administrative processes.

The creation of a separate peak body is an exciting opportunity for the bridge community in NSW and we thank you for your continued support.
