NSWBA Transition

Let’s Talk - Volunteering

Work on the NSWBA restructure continues and we need your help. Want to find out more? Please read till the end.

Given Australia’s National Volunteer Week in late May, this seems a good time for the NSWBA Strategy Group to acknowledge the many who already make a massive impact on our bridge playing community.

Volunteering is rewarding for those who provide help, and it seems a great way to further improve the bridge community.  Most clubs are run by passionate volunteers and there are crucial contributions from many others: those who organise and coordinate congresses, direct sessions, administer masterpoints, serve on committees… and many more, including past and present NSWBA council members. A big shout out to all of them!

The NSWBA Transition Project aims to create a healthy future for bridge in the state, by setting up two successful independent organisations:

  • the new NSW state association - a capable state peak body,  promoting bridge and supporting the community; and
  • the new Sydney Bridge Centre - a flourishing bridge club, providing a premier customer experience.

To ensure their success we continue to rely on volunteers, now and in the future.

For the current phase of the restructure the necessary skillset is strategic leadership, commercial and financial acumen, and of course change management. However we are also keen to hear from you if your experience and background lies in marketing and communications, project management, event management, information technology, community programs, facilities management – the list is long.

Interested people with these skills and motivated to help the NSW bridge community, either for the new Sydney Bridge Centre or the new NSW state association, should please contact me directly.

Thank you for your continued help and support,
