2011 Grand National Open Teams (GNOT)

National Final
November 25-28 (Friday - Monday)

The 2011 National Final will be played at the Tweed Ultima Resort in Tweed Heads.

Enquiries from clubs outside the Sydney Metropolitan region should be directed to the relevant regional co-ordinator whose details will be found on the ABF website when available.

Sydney 3 defeated Sydney 1 in the Final (151-108).

Sydney Metropolitan Qualifying

All Sydney Metropolitan clubs are invited to hold qualifying events to determine representative teams that will compete in a Metropolitan Final at the NSWBA on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th October.


Direct Qualifying Events

Three Metropolitan clubs will run events in 2011 to qualify teams directly to the GNOT National Final.

  • Double Bay Bridge Centre, Wednesdays 4, 11, 18, 25 May, 1 June
  • NSWBA, Mondays 6, 20, 27 June, 4, 11 July
  • North Shore Bridge Club, Thursdays 25 August, 1, 8, 15 September

Direct Qualifying Events Supplementary Regulations


NSWBA Qualifying
June 6, 20 & 27, July 4 & 11

The NSWBA will run one qualifying event on Monday nights at 7.30pm June 6, 20 & 27, July 4 & 11 to qualify teams for the Sydney Metropolitan Final and two teams directly to the National Final.

Sydney Metropolitan Final
NSWBA October 8-9

Play commences at 10am on each day.

Sydney Metropolitan Final Results

A knock-out teams event (28 board matches) with Swiss repechage (14 board matches). Two teams from the knockout section and two teams from the Swiss repechage qualify to the National Final, held from 25-28 November in Tweed Heads.

2011 Sydney Metropolitan Final Supplementary Regulations updated September 29

Teams may enter the Sydney Metropolitan Final directly. Such teams must consist entirely of players who have previously played in Metropolitan Club qualifying competitions. Entry fee is $250.

As the first day of the GNOT Metropolitan Final falls on the Jewish Day of Atonement, substitutions will be permitted beyond the normal scope of the NSWBA Tournament Regulations, if necessary substitutes will be permitted for an entire team on the Saturday.
