SUMMARY OF MAJOR EVENTS - 2008
The Sydney Metropolitan Region has been granted eight places in the National
Final to be held in Banora Point on 28 November - 1 December 2008. Four teams
(two from the NSWBA and one from the Double Bay Bridge Centre and one from the
North Shore Bridge Club) will qualify directly to the National Final. All
metropolitan clubs will be invited to run GNOT qualifying tournaments to select
teams to play in the Metropolitan Regional Final at the NSWBA on 11 & 12
October 2008. Four teams from this final will qualify to the National Final.
Gold masterpoints will be awarded for all matches. The GNOT convener for Sydney

This match-pointed pairs event is open to players below the rank of Life Master
at 1/1/2008. The Sydney Metropolitan Region has been granted 16 places in the
National Final to be held in Canberra on 17-18 January 2009. All metropolitan
clubs will be invited to run GNP qualifying tournaments to select pairs to play
in the Metropolitan Regional Final at the North Shore Bridge Club on 21
September 2008. Gold masterpoints will be awarded for all sessions. The GNP

All clubs are invited to participate in the 2008 Bridge for Brain Research
Challenge and support the Prince of Wales Research Institute. The ABF has
approved red masterpoints and there will be great prizes including holidays,
mobile phones and shopping vouchers. NSWBA session is scheduled for Monday 5th
May at 10.30 am.

Three players enter and randomly draw a Master player as their fourth for the
day. Only simple bidding systems may be used and no Grand Masters may enter
(except as team captains). The captain will play two matches with each of the
team members..

The ANC rotates around the states and territories on an 8-year cycle and in 2008
the QBA will be holding this prestigious event in Surfers Paradise. Stage 1 of
the Australian Butler Pairs is open entry and Gold masterpoints are awarded.
Players must be prequalified for the ANC Teams Championships. There will be
Congress side-events and walk-in sessions throughout the 16 days of
competition. All Congress side-events attract Red masterpoints at level B3 or
B4.
