Chairman’s Corner
No.5, November, 2005
As this is the last Bulletin for the year I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your support during my freshman year as Chairman of the NSWBA.
As you’d be aware, the AGM is coming up on December
14th . Two of our councilors, Mike Hughes and Ross Stuart, are
stepping down this year and I would like to take this opportunity
to thank them for their contribution to Council.
Special mention should be made of Mike Hughes’
unstinting service as Treasurer for many years which has
contributed in no small measure to the healthy financial position
the NSWBA is in today.
Thanks also go to the other members of Council who
continue to give many hours of their valuable time to promote and
foster the health of Bridge in NSW. I am also grateful to our
admin staff, Liz Fanos and Carrie Foster, without whose
unrelenting effort the Association’s activities would rapidly
degenerate to chaos.
We have many events planned for the coming year and
welcome your attendance at them. I would especially like to see as
many country players as possible on December 10th & 11th when
we are staging a one off event to choose NSW representatives to
play at the Commonwealth Nations Bridge Championship to be held in
Melbourne in March 2006.
It is your support at events such as these, and at
our regular championships, that enable us to maintain the standard
of Bridge in NSW at a level unmatched in Australia.
My final thanks go to Peter Jamieson, the Editor,
who does a wonderful job of producing the Bulletin throughout the
year.
All the very best for the festive season and I wish
you a happy, productive and rewarding year in 2006.
Alex Yezerski
Chairman NSWBA
